The factory worked on many commissions for the imperial court and its products enjoyed great demand on both the national and international markets. Contributed to Pan-Russian and World Exhibitions in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Currently a private limited company known as the Kornilov Porcelain Factory.

The main figure of the plant was Mikhail Kornilov. In 1869 he became a sole owner of the factory, and after his death ownership passed to his wife and children. 1835 was the year when the Kornilov brother's porcelain factory was founded. The company was built in Saint Petersburg, on the right Bank of the Neva River. The location of the plant became very favorable for future activities: the sources of necessary raw materials were located quite close, and there was a transport hub nearby. Thanks to rapid development, orders from the Imperial family began to arrive here within a few years.

Masters were not afraid to experiment with the shape of products, developed new porcelain, improving the material. In the second half of the XIX century. The company not only achieved the success of the Imperial porcelain factory, but in many ways surpassed it in terms of technical characteristics of products. Since the 1880s, the factory has been producing souvenir items dedicated to memorable dates and famous events. Toys and man-made flowers were often presented to loved ones as gifts.

The sculptures are made on the basis of popular motifs at that time. There are figures of flower girls, gardeners, shepherds - the life of commoners is displayed in various figurines that are now collected in collections that are stored in museums and collectors around the world.

As for dishes, its variety is striking: in addition to the usual plates, the Kornilov brother's factory is famous for small saucers for sweets and pies, salad bowls, glasses, various forms of kettles, even pans and pans. The surface of the porcelain was decorated with more than just patterns: you can find products with beautiful compositions that make up a specific story. Enjoyed an unrivalled command of every technique employed Art painting school, as well as with the gold and silverware. This unique fusion of the national creative spirit and contemporary culture helped to create some of the greatest masterpieces of Russian and world jewelry.

Russia has long been a leader in production of enamel with orders and medals and other enamel wares. In Russia, nice enamel objects were considered to be the most expensive and valuable. Like fine wine, fine jewelry also has a "vintage"-the design period or era from which it hails. Victorian or Edwardian, Art Deco or Retro, each piece in our collection has its own special pedigree.

But just because one era ended and another began, it doesn't mean that creative jewelry makers simply forgot the lessons of the past! Many of the jewels in our cases refuse to conform to a single design period, either by striking out on their own or showing the transition from one era to the next. When such daring dazzlers are over one hundred years old, they're generally grouped in the antique category. Anything younger than that, but still made before 1970, fits the vintage label.

Every iconic era yields both singular and transitional pieces, like the ones we've assembled here. Follow the link at the end of each section for more about the aesthetics and history of the period.
