Exquisite Russian Imperial Silver- gilt Orthodox Communion Spoon, made by noted Russian Silversmith Ivan Khlebnikov in 1882, and fully hallmarked. The spoon is in the then-fashionable'Pan-Slavic' or'Slavic Revival' style, and features exquisite Cloisonne enamelling. The cross at the end is set with what I believe is a garnet.
It has a tiny area of slight enamel loss to the handle, and light rubbing of the gilding, but these are both barely noticeable. The spoon measures 21cm long, and weighs approx 64g.It has previously been examined by both Sotheby's Russian department and by Wartski's, and confirmed genuine.
