An outstanding quality Imperial Russian large silver, silver-gilt and polychrome enamel egg box by important maker and Imperial Warrant holder Ivan Klebnikov. Established in St Petersburg in 1867, the firm transferred to Moscow in 1871, where at the peak it was employing 200 craftsmen. The craftsmanship is of magnificent quality, the matt silver background setting off the intricate blue/mauve, white, green and red palate to wonderful advantage. Opens to reveal the stunning original fire-gilt interior.Displayed on original traditional chicken-foot stand. Clear deep hallmarks to the rim and inside both lids: these include the maker's mark, the Imperial warrant mark, the right facing Moscow koloshnic mark for 1908 to1926, and the 84 zolotnic silver standard mark, which equates to 875 parts per thousand silver purity, also struck on the stand. The condition which is so critical to collector's is nothing short of amazing, there is no damage or repair and no discernible wear, the enamel with no chips or losses whatsoever; there are two miniscule hair-line cracks to two of the cloisonné cells, visible through a x10 loupe, only mentioned in the interest of scrupulous accuracy. Ivan Klebnikov Moscow c 1910. I have many stunning pieces of collector's silver in my shop, please look at my other items. I aim only to list antique silver items that are without damage, repair, alteration or undue wear. My silver pieces are ideal as special gifts, for collectors, for investors, or for resale by dealers. I provide clear descriptions and photos. The silver is photographed in flat natural light, but silver is so reflective that black spots from the camera and other reflections are sometimes unavoidable. Please check the dimensions of the object carefully as apparent size can be deceptive.
