Imperial Russian Silver Vase Alexander Ii, Moscow 1834 Woman With Harp Antique
An unusual Russian silver vase, multi-piece construction, the top part of the vase has a rod that runs through the stem and is held together by a large round silver nut. The nut fits loosely but could be made snug with some work. The decoration is of a woman playing a heart in the "Romantic" taste, there is also an image of a mill on a river. The stem is formed from 4 ball shapes, one has a split, the seam is visible on the others, there appears to be a repair with silver solder (not leaded cold solder) on the top ball and where the stem attaches to the base. The rim of the base has a rolled grape leaf and cluster rolled die decoration. It is possible this is Judiaca, I suppose an argument could be made that it is a kiddish cup. If so, it is highly unusual and very early for such an object from Russia. Measures about 7 1/8 high.

The decoration was engraved by a talented engraver. Hallmarked with the Moscow city mark and date 18345 on the upper outer edge, next to that the 84 standard mark and maker mark. Under the base it is marked with the assay master mark of Nikolay Dubrovin of Moscow year 1834, the 84 standard mark and the maker mark. 157 grams almost 5 troy ounces exactly.
