Up for sale is a rare Presenting an Exquisite Antique Imperial Russian 84 Silver Podstakannik Tea Set in Presentation Box. RUSSIAN 84 SILVER Boxed PODSTAKANNIK Set- VASILY ANDREYEV/ AKIMOV. Hallmarked BA for VASILY ANDREYEV (or VASILY AKIMOV). Combined sterling weight is 335 grams. The masterwork of the silversmiths artform features beautiful needle engraving of the closest & most precise work. The two cups feature a nested mother bird caring for her nestlings with the caption Virescit Vulnere Virtus which translates to From Injury (or Adversity) We Gain Strength.

The (2) cups are engraved all around the central cartouche with detailed floral sprays and have a gold washed interior. The magnificent fitted presentation box is marked under the top lid M.

It measures 12 1/2 long X 8 deep X 4 1/4 tall. Condition remains solidly assembled & generally very good, aside from a surface drying crack at the top panel. The largest Podstakannik Cup measures about 4 high X 4 1/2 wide, counting the (flawless) floral needle etched crystal insert tumbler. Condition of all (6) boxed items remains effectively flawless, as if they have never been touched, removed from the box or handled in any way for these past 100+ years! All have a beautiful patina from decades of non cleaning, with no dents, scratching, dings or other flaws that we could observe. Please see photos as part of the description.
