Made by the Gardner Imperial Porcelain Factory; Moscow. The factory stamp confirms that it. 12,3 cm / 4,84 inch. Height: 6,5 cm / 2,56 inch. The imperial porcelain factory, focused on serving the needs of the royal court, although it was authorized to produce products for wide sale during the reign of Catherine II, could not meet the increasing demand for artistic porcelain.

In this regard, there was an urgent need to expand the domestic porcelain industry. In the second half of the 18th century, a number of private factories appeared. The only viable production was the factory founded by the English merchant Franz Gardner in 1766 in the village of Verbilki, Moscow province. Thanks to Johann Miller, who worked at the Imperial Porcelain Factory in the early 1760s and was familiar with the recipe for D. Vinogradov's porcelain paste, Franz Gardner quickly set to work.
