In hand, the case feels very sturdy and well crafted, the closure being very tight and'snappy'. As a result, the contents held within will be safely kept and the interior lining has remained very clean for its age. The overall proportions and geometric design of this piece are wonderful, presenting an excellent balance of finesse and contrast with the gilt and stippled background and scrolled enamelling that forms an incredibly eye-catching motif. The case is marked on both sides with the maker's mark H3 and the Kokoshnik 84 mark with the Delta symbol signifying the Moscow region. A wonderful collectable piece of fine Imperial Russian silverware ideal for enamel lovers.
