Antique 18th Century Russian Icon Vigil lamp In Form Of Russian Imperial Crown. Antique 18th Century Russian Icon Vigil lamp In The Form Of The Russian Imperial Crown. A very unusual and rare antique 18th century Russian orthodox Christian ecclesiastical sanctuary hanging vigil oil lamp made in the form of the jeweled Russian Imperial Crown. The squat bulbous upper part is made of gold gilt copper, adorned with hand-cut and faceted cushion-shaped four red and four blue jewels, mounted in high setting on silver-plated rosettes (worn), the top surmounted with globular finial. The lower part in the form of a baroque crown is made of brass repoussé, and hand-chiseled floral ornamentations with a silver-plated surface (worn out) and adorned with four red, two green and one blue, various sizes and shapes, hand-cut and faceted jewels, mounted in a high setting. The lamp is suspended by three chains made of braided links connected to brass suspension mounts composed of an oval domed plate hand repoussé with and affix with a suspension ring.
